LaLume turns your iPad into a nightstand display and reading light, then manages the transition to sleep based on what your body is actually doing. When paired with Apple Watch, HealthKit biometric signals — heart rate variability, movement, respiratory patterns — drive gradual dimming that responds to real sleep onset rather than a fixed timer.

The result is a reading light that dims as you drift off, a clock that is visible when you glance but never intrusive, and a transition that happens without you having to decide when to stop reading.

LaLume works as a manual nightstand display and reading light without Apple Watch. You set a dimming schedule or tap to dim. The core experience — a considered, calm display that respects the end of your day — does not depend on biometrics.

LaLume reads HealthKit sleep and heart rate data on-device only. No health data is stored beyond the current session. No data leaves the device. There is no backend, no analytics, and no account.
